Limitations

The 8th Grade Savannah Trip began in 1989, and despite the growth within our school system, we have chosen to maintain the unique experience and the quality of this trip.  Therefore, we limit the number of participants to approximately 85.

Students will be prioritized based on the date of the down payment ($200).  The payment window for the down payment is Monday, November 8, through Friday, December 3.  Once we have 85 names/down payments, students may be placed on a waiting list.  Paying the down payment ($200) or the full amount ($400) does not impact a student's position on the list during the initial payment window.  Students will be evaluated for trip eligibility in December and then again in March based on the guidelines listed below.

Please Note:  On Friday, March 4, 2022, if more than 85 students--who paid on November 8--are still interested in the trip, we will need to re-evaluate eligibility based on more specific criteria:  grade point average and grade-level behavior.  These guidelines may be different from those listed below.  Any student who is not able to attend the trip as a result of re-evaluation will be given a full refund.

Guidelines

Students must be in good standing with discipline and academics for the school year.  Due to Covid, the attendance requirement will not be enforced this year; however, students are expected to attend school regularly.  The following guidelines will be enforced for this field trip, which MAY be different from those published in the BMS Student Agenda.

  1. Any student who has been assigned ISS or Isolation twice--even if it was only a half day each time--will not be permitted to attend the field trip.
  2. Any student who has been assigned ISS for three (3) or more days will not participate.
  3. Any student who has been suspended from school will not participate.
  4. Any student who is not passing ALL classes at the end of the first semester (December 17) will not participate.  Academics will be re-evaluated in March prior to creating room assignments.
  5. Participation is solely at the discretion of Buford Middle School administration.

Attending field trips is a privilege, not a right, and at BMS, we hold our students to the highest expectations.  Please see the Refund Policy as needed.
