Limitations
The 8th Grade Savannah Trip began in 1989, and despite the growth within our school system, we have chosen to maintain the unique experience and the quality of this trip. Therefore, we limit the number of participants to approximately 85.
Students will be prioritized based on the date of the non-refundable down payment ($200). Once we have 85 names/down payments, additional students will be placed on a waiting list.
If we have enough students on the waiting list (approximately 45), we have the option to add a third bus. However, we CANNOT take more than three charter buses, which is approximately 135 students total.
Paying the down payment ($200) or the full amount ($475) does not impact a student's position on the list during the initial payment window. Students will be evaluated for trip eligibility in December and then again in March based on the guidelines listed below.

Eligibility Guidelines
Students must be in good standing with discipline, attendance, and academics for the school year. The following guidelines will be enforced for this field trip, which MAY be different from those published in the BMS Student Agenda.
Attending field trips is a privilege, not a right, and at BMS, we hold our students to the highest expectations. Please see the Refund Policy as needed.
- Academics: Any student who is not passing ALL classes at the end of the first semester will not participate. Academics will be re-evaluated in March prior to creating room assignments. Any student not passing at the end of Quarter 3 will not attend.
- Discipline: Any student who has been assigned ISS or Isolation twice--even if it was only a half day each time--will not be permitted to attend the field trip.
- Discipline: Any student who has been assigned ISS for three (3) or more days will not participate.
- Discipline: Any student who has been suspended from school will not participate.
- Attendance: Any student who has missed a class period more than ten (10) days will not participate.
- Attendance: All absences MUST be excused; students may not have any unexcused absences.
- Participation is solely at the discretion of Buford Middle School administration.
